Six out of ten large Swedish companies do not check if they are at risk of violating human rights, but most feel they are at very little or no risk of committing violations.
This was just one finding of the Amnesty Business Group Survey. The survey is conducted every year by Amnesty Business Group Sweden and is sponsored by Ethix SRI Advisors, the Swedish Church, and the Third and Fourth Swedish National Pension Funds.
“The risks don’t disappear for a company if they choose to put their head in the sand”, said Emma Ihre, head of corporate engagement at Ethix. “Those companies that don’t integrate human rights into their overall risk analysis risk being impacted by large and unpredictable costs in the future. These costs will not be beneficial to their share price”.
