Ethix Roundtable: Risk management for companies and investors - Sudan

Is it right or wrong that companies work in or drive business in Sudan? Opinions diverge regarding this question and there is no simple answer.

What are the risks associated with being in business in Sudan and how should companies manage those risks? What demands can investors put on companies with exposure in Sudan?

ABB was for some years active in Sudan, but left the country due to lobbying from various pressure groups.

The European Coalition on Oil in Sudan encourages companies to work in the country as long as they manage the possible risks of violating human rights.

Ethix will give its view on the question and there will be a discussion with Anders H Nordström, ABB’s Group Advisor for Sustainability Affairs and Egbert Wesselink, Coordinator for the European Coalition on Oil in Sudan.

Moderator: Emma Ihre, Head of corporate engagement for Ethix SRI advisors.
