Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is at present collecting and compiling responses from 2,400 of the largest quoted companies in the world by market capitalisation, based on a request for disclosure of investment-relevant information concerning the risks and opportunities facing these companies due to climate change.

This is the fifth such request by investors participating in the Carbon Disclosure Project cementing CDP as the global standardised mechanism by which companies report their greenhouse gas emissions to investors.

For the first time, CDP and its Scandinavian Secretariat will produce a report from the 50 largest Swedish listed companies, and the 25 largest Danish, Finnish and Norwegian listed companies, which will be published in the autumn.

Altogether 22 financial institutions in the four Scandinavian countries have signed the letter that requests companies to disclose their emissions and report what responsible steps they take to curb them.

Ethix SRI Advisors has been selected to write the CDP5 Scandinavia Report that will summarise the information submitted by the companies. Ulrika Hasselgren, Executive Vice President says: "With our extensive track record in company screening and analysis, Ethix looks forward to the exhilarating work ahead of us with this new arrival on the Scandinavian scene".

Norwegian CDP partner KLP's CEO Aage Schaanning says: "KLP Asset Management has a strong commitment to responsible investment and we believe supporting this initiative is a great opportunity for us to make an impact on companies' awareness, and hopefully also performance on the emission of greenhouse gases."

Amanda Haworth at CDP's Scandinavian Secretariat says: "We are looking forward to the first CDP report covering the Scandinavian countries. My hope is that the report will demonstrate that the largest Scandinavian corporations are engaging seriously with the pressing climate issues."
