Our Team
Ethix SRI Advisors is an international and diverse team representing 10 countries and covering more than 15 languages, and is based in Copenhagen, Helsinki, London and Stockholm. The analysts have strong academic backgrounds and thorough knowledge of environmental, social and ethical issues. Working as a team and utilizing our global network and collaboration with prominent data providers and experts, we have the capacity to provide clients with relevant and timely research services. The advisors have thorough knowledge of SRI and extensive experience from business and financial markets. We participate in numerous industry forums and are frequently engaged in a capacity of speaker and moderator at international investor conferences and seminars, and guest lecturers at universities and business schools.

Ulrika Hasselgren is founding partner and CEO. Ulrika is an advisor to institutional investors in the field of sustainable and responsible investment since 1999. In 2000, she helped Sweden’s state pension fund AP7 to develop their policy for responsible investment and developed the innovative norm-based screening methodology. Ulrika has a background in the management consulting industry and spent 12 years with McKinsey and 3 years with Solving, before establishing Team Ethix in 1999. She is a guest lecturer on Responsible Investment in Sweden at Stockholm University School of Business and a frequent speaker at international investor conferences and seminars throughout Europe. She serves as member of the board of Eurosif and Swesif.

Tobias Henmark, Executive Vice President, is a senior manager with a background from private and public organisations. He has held positions as Director of Sales & Business development, Head of Business Unit and Senior Investment Manager within the Government Offices. He has also worked on the boards of the Teracom Goup, Samhall and Arbetslivsresurs. He has mainly focused on issues related to marketing and sales, public policy and Corporate Governance. He holds a M.Sc. in Economics and a BA in Management Administration and Political Science from Stockholm University and London School of Economics as well as diplomas in marketing from RMI Berghs. Tobias speaks Swedish and English.

Mikael Arborelius is Chief Development Officer. He has over 15 years of experience from developing and improving products and services as CTO, IT consulting engagement manager, product responsible and IT consultant. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Linköpings universitet, with a focus on human-computer interaction and cognitive science. Mikael is also co-founder of several start-ups and has worked as a teacher in interaction design and usability at Linköpings universitet.

Tord Carnlöf is co-founder of Ethix SRI Advisors. Tord has over 20 years of experience in the management consulting industry services. Previously, he was partner and CEO at Solving Bohlin & Strömberg, Director for Arthur D. Little and partner at Finnish consultancy company Synergy. In 1999, Tord co-founded Etikanalytikerna, where he was a board member and shareholder. Tord graduated from the Gothenburg School of Business.

Anna Follér is Chief Operations Officer. Prior to that, she was senior analyst and client manager with Ethix. She previously worked at the Swedish Migration Board as an asylum officer. Anna holds a European Master's degree in Human Rights and Democratisation studied in Italy and Spain and a Master degree in Politics studied in Sweden and France. Anna has experience from working with human rights in state administration as well as the NGO sector. Anna speaks Swedish, English and French.

Taina Haahti is senior advisor and based in Helsinki Finland. Ms. Haahti has worked as a consultant, columnist, and a manager in the finance world. She is also a published author. Among other finance-related board memberships and management positions Taina has been Vice President of Asset Management at Union Bank of Finland. She speaks Finnish, English, Swedish, German and French.

Charlotte Mansson is senior advisor and client manager for Denmark, based in Copenhagen. Prior to joining Ethix, Charlotte was Head of Sales and Marketing for Reprisk, a leading ESG data provider based in Zurich, Switzerland helping to lead their growth and expansion. Charlotte worked for six years as a management consultant based in London and Brussels, focusing on change management and communication within blue chip companies. She holds a Masters degree in European Economics from John Hopkins University in Washington D.C. Charlotte speaks Danish, Swedish, and English.

Per Sommerlou is Chief Client Officer. He has prior experience from private banks and asset managers such as Erik Penser Bank, HQ Bank and SEB. He has an extensive experience from the financial markets as head of private banks and investment teams (CIO), business and product development, and as portfolio manager. Per has worked with investment processes, risk control, financial research and competence development projects for bank personnel. He is also an author of financial articles and literature. Per Sommerlou has an MBA, specializing in economics and financial markets, from Stockholm School of Economics.

Pernilla Ström is co-founder of Ethix SRI Advisors. Pernilla has a background in economics, journalism and financial analysis. She has experience as an editorial writer and political reporter for Swedish daily papers and business magazines. She has worked for the Ministry of Finance, as a macroeconomics analyst for Öhman Fondkommission and as CEO of Blockbid. In addition to several non-profit ventures and her own company, Ity AB, Pernilla serves as a board member of Swedish companies.

Dr Rory Sullivan is strategic advisor and chairman of Ethix's Advisory Council. Rory is an internationally recognised expert on responsible investment. He was previously Head of Responsible Investment at Insight Investment, where he established Insight as one of the world's leading responsible investment management for the manner in which it integrated environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into its investment process and the quality of its engagement with companies on these issues. Rory is an internationally recognised expert on climate change, human rights and development issues. He has written seven books and over 400 papers, reports and articles on these and related issues, including Valuing Corporate Responsibility (2011), Corporate Responses to Climate Change (2008), Responsible Investment (2006) and Business and Human Rights: Dilemmas and Solutions (2003).

Reinhilde Weidacher is head of research. Reinhilde is an expert in the area of arms trade and violent conflicts. Reinhilde holds a Laurea in political science from Bologna University, Italy, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Sciences from Stockholm University. Prior to joining Ethix SRI Advisors, she has worked as an independent consultant on arms and peace related issues for international NGOs and research organizations, including the Swedish Defence Research Agency and the Geneva-based Small Arms Survey. She also researched the global military industry for six years at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Reinhilde speaks German, Dutch, Italian, Swedish and English.

Oshni is an analyst. She holds a conjoint Bachelor of Laws and Arts from the University of Auckland and a Masters in International Human Rights Law and Labour Law from Lund University. Whilst at Lund, she chose to specialize in the human rights and business field and focused her thesis on the challenges of mainstreaming environmental and social criteria into commercial financing relationships. She previously worked at the Danish Institute for Human Rights and Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights. Oshni speaks English, Spanish and Swedish.

Carmen Butler is a senior analyst and engagement manager. Carmen holds a law degree from Seattle University School of Law, and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University, United States. She has worked at the international law firm of K&L Gates as a transactional attorney in real estate, energy and environmental law. Building on a concern for environmental aspects of civil society development, she joined the Stockholm Environment Institute to research climate change mitigation and adaptation financing. Carmen speaks English, Swedish, Spanish, Japanese and Serbo-Croatian.

Anna Flisberg is an analyst. Anna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ecotechnology as well as a Master degree in Sustainable Enterprising. Prior to joining Ethix, she has worked with environmental auditing of companies in Eastern Europe and Tanzania as well as for the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. In addition, Anna has extensive experience of implementing environmental management systems, most recently as Head of environmental and quality management at Trosa printing plant. Anna speaks Swedish and English.

Damien Fruchart is a senior analyst and engagement manager. Damien holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese and Japanese Studies from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, as well as a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden. He previously worked as a researcher at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). He has also worked for the European Commission’s delegation in Beijing, China. Damien speaks French, English, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) and Swedish.

Flora Gaber is a senior analyst. Flora holds a PhD in Medical Science from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. Before joining Ethix SRI Advisors, she was a research student at the National Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet. She has also worked as a guest researcher at the University of California in Los Angeles, United States. Flora speaks Swedish, English, German and Arabic.

Michael Jenks is an analyst with expertise of the global arms industry and arms trafficking. Michael holds a BA in Administrative Law and Public Administration, in which he focused on international relations, armed conflict and institution building. Previously, he worked in the Countering Illicit Trafficking – Mechanism Assessment Projects (CIT-MAP) of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) from 2010 to 2013. He is currently finishing his MA in Development Studies at Uppsala University. Michael speaks English, Dutch and basic Swedish.

Michele Prisco is a researcher. He holds a Laurea in International Relations from Turin University as well as an MA in Global Studies from Gothenburg University which included a particular focus on peace and conflict studies. He is also specialized in international law, Islamic law and history. Prior to joining Ethix SRI Advisors, Michele worked at the Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation (Kristna Fredsrörelsen) and as Ecumenical Accompanier in Palestine and Israel. Michele speaks English, Italian and Swedish.

Ulrika Sandberg is a senior analyst. Ulrika holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Örebro, Sweden, with a focus on law and development. During her studies she performed field trips to investigate women's rights in Namibia and land rights in South Africa. She also holds a Master of Laws from the University of Edinburgh, in human rights and international criminal law. Prior to working for Ethix SRI Advisors, Ulrika has worked as a West Africa researcher at the head office of Amnesty International in London, writing reports on subjects including CSR in relation to oil extraction and production in the Niger Delta. She has also worked as a writer and researcher for the Swedish Africa Groups and Redress Trust and volunteered for Survival International, UK. Ulrika speaks English, French and Swedish.

Jay Simpson is an analyst. Jay holds a Bachelor with Honours in International Relations from the Australian National University, which included a particular focus on Internet communication culture and the dissemination of illegal and harmful material. Prior to joining Ethix SRI Advisors, Jay worked at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in the Editorial and Publications Department. Jay speaks English, French and Swedish.

Maria Sjödin is a senior analyst and engagement manager. Maria holds a Master of Laws degree from Uppsala University. She specialized in human rights law and wrote her thesis on the pharmaceutical industry and the human right to health. Maria has worked for the Swedish company Sapa Heat Transfer in Shanghai, China. She has also volunteered for the NGO Corporación Nuevo Arco Iris in Colombia and for Svalorna Latinamerika in Nicaragua. Maria speaks Swedish, English, German, and Spanish.

Therese holds an MA in political science from Uppsala University. She specialized in development studies and Corporate Responsibility and wrote her thesis in Vietnam, focusing on multinational companies influence over labor rights in textile factories. Therese has a background in human rights, conflict and gender, and before joining Ethix she worked for the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). Therese has also worked at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Colombia, at UN Women and as a Peace Observer in Mexico and Guatemala. Therese speaks Swedish, English and Spanish.

Henning Weber is a senior analyst with expertise of the global arms industry. He holds an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies, mainly dealing with research on international conflicts and conflict analysis, arms control, disarmament, and transparency in the international arms trade. Henning also holds a BA in Social Science and Economics, in which he focused on international relations, armed conflict, and research on the impact of authority relations on the life of child soldiers. Previously, he worked in the Arms Transfers Programme of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in 2010 and 2011. Before working at SIPRI he was a Junior Fellow with the College of International and Security Studies at the George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Henning speaks English and German.

Liza has spent the last three years in London, working as a receptionist at Star Creative Ltd and as an event assistant at Lansons Communications. The last position she held was as office concierge, covering several receptions at Pearson and Penguin. She has background from Scania Secondary High School, and has studied event management at Kings College University. Liza speaks Swedish, English and German.

Hampus Hårdeman is head of backoffice. Prior to joining Ethix, Hampus was finishing his studies by writing a thesis on the different aspects of assessing corporate sustainability. Hampus has worked at various companies as an accounting/book-keeping assistant via consulting company Academic Work. He has also held the position of assistant manager at service stations within the Swedish service chain of Statoil. He has lived and studied Chinese in the Guangdong province of China. Hampus holds a degree of Master of Science in Business Administration and Economics from the Stockholm University School of Business. Hampus speaks Swedish, English, Chinese (Mandarin) and German.

Gisela Riddarström is manager of HR, client service and administration, including PA to Ethix's CEO. Gisela has a background from McKinsey & Company in Stockholm and London where she worked with recruiting, brand management and communications. She holds a BA in Media and Communications and speaks Swedish and English.

Karl Thomasson is currently finishing his Master of Science in Business Administration and Economics at Stockholm University and has worked for Ethix on several occasions during his time as a student. Karl speaks Swedish and English.

Henrik Broms is currently studying Business Administration and Sociology at Copenhagen Business School, and will get a Bachlor's degree in the spring of 2014. After completing his military service Henrik studied French in Toulouse and worked as an Administrative Intern at the Swedish Investment Fund Association. Henrik speaks Swedish, English and French.

Jan Kilander is doing an internship as back office assistant. Jan attended the Lord Weymouth School and subsequently trained as an applied mathematician at the Stockholm Royal School of Technology. Over the years he has worked in R&D, IT-instruction and as a technical translator. Jan speaks Swedish, English and French.
